Turf TV is the brand name of Amalgamated Racing Limited (AMRAC) and is wholly owned Joint Venture operated on a 50:50 basis by Timeweave and Racecourse Media Services Limited.

It is a dedicated TV channel which provides TV pictures and data to over 10,000 Licenced Betting Offices (LBOs) in the UK and Eire. It owns exclusive broadcast rights for horse racing from 34 of the best racecourses in the UK, including Aintree, Ascot, Kempton Park, Newbury and Newmarket.

Tests of the service began in 2007 with six courses and launched its full commercial service in January 2008. The service is produced from studios at Teddington and distributed via a dedicated satellite network, using a highly secure and proprietary conditional access system.

There are approximately 10,400 licensed betting offices in the UK and Eire; currently Turf TV services approximately 9,800 of these shops. The Gambling Commission annual report published in August 2011 showed the number of UK LBOs increasing slightly (no equivalent figures fir Eire).

Turf TV exclusively features 34 of the UK’s leading racecourses including Ascot, Newbury, York, Sandown Park, Cheltenham and Epsom and most of the key festival racing each year, such as Cheltenham, Royal Ascot and the Grand National. Turf TV renewed its racecourse agreements and major bookmaker licensing arrangements with all 34 courses through to 2018.

Designed to meet the needs of a modern licensed betting office, the Turf TV betting channel provides a full program of events throughout normal shop opening hours. Additional content includes virtual horse racing from 6 racecourses and virtual dog racing from 4 dog tracks. Turf TV's virtual service combines cutting edge 'live look 'graphics with live commentary, offering compelling and exiting betting opportunities to the LBO user and an additional revenue stream to the betting office owner.
